"On average, we are seeing around 2-3 people every day become Christians" From the Chaplin at the prison.
Yesterday (Sunday 3rd Oct 2010) Nick, Mikey and I intentionally found ourselves in prison. We walked through the high fenced area through the courtyard surrendered over all our belongings with the exception of a bible and drum sticks, I even had my belt checked for a concealed knife (I didn't have a knife).
Mikey played his drums in a way that I had never heard before, it was like with each hit of the drums a shard of light was thrown out into the room, it was visibly impacting hearts around the low lit sealed room watching darkness flee and hearts filled with the joy of God's grace was beautiful, the room was pretty much at capacity with around one hundred convicted people that morning.
Nick led us in "we are marching in the light of God" as Mikey pounded the drum kit people all around the room began to dance and rejoice as more and more of Christ's light spread.
I then preached on knowing the Father's love my experience of encountering God and the freedom in forgiveness, forgiving ourselves, forgiving others and receiving the forgiveness bought by the blood of Jesus. Around 50 people responded to a call for prayer. Hearts were unveiled and years of hurt brought to the table and given over to Jesus. One man said to me "you will never truly know what it is you have done here today for me, I can not thank you enough, today after 23 years of holding unforgiveness toward my father I have forgiven him, today I forgive him for what he did to me ..." many asked to know the Lord, for healing, for help to forgive others, to forgive themselves and for their families.
What an honor and a joy it was for the 3 of us to be an instrument of good news to these people.
Mathew 6:14/15 The Message
“In prayer there is a connection between what God does and what you do. You can't get forgiveness from God, for instance, without also forgiving others. If you refuse to do your part, you cut yourself off from God's part.
